Our work on increasing biodiversity on an agricultural property surrounded by urban sprawl was presented at the International Botanical Congress in July 2024 by Neela de Zoysa and Shahirajh Thanigasalam. The research showed that a small agricultural area, surrounded by urban development, can be a significant refuge for biodiversity by practising regenerative farming methods that include maintaining a mosaic of cultivated, semi-natural and natural habitats, with structural and floristic diversity that increases trophic complexity and niche formation.
